NATURE EXPERIENCES NEAR DE HVIDE SVANER CAMPING
Are you into beautiful cycling routes, forest walks, or sailing on the fjord?
These and many other options are available in our area.
De Hvide Svaner Camping is uniquely and beautifully situated. From the site, it's easy to be captivated by the view across Karrebæk Fjord to Karrebæksminde or Appenæs. Just a few hundred meters from the campsite, you'll find Saltø Å – right in front of the Lehnsgreve family's Saltø Forest.
The campsite is located in South Zealand, with Karrebæksminde, Enø, and Næstved nearby. So, when you cross the barrier at De Hvide Svaner, nature practically comes to you by itself.
A day at the beach
Just a short drive from the campsite, you'll find some of South Zealand's most popular beaches. You can head to Karrebæksminde, Enø, or Bisserup and enjoy a relaxing day by the water, or go on an adventure with kayaking or paddleboarding.
If you visit the charming coastal villages of Karrebæksminde and Bisserup, you'll also find scenic harbor environments and maritime experiences.
Karrebæksminde
Karrebæksminde is perfect for cycling and hiking. You can take the bike or walk all the way out to Enø Overdrev to the old Enø Camp, where you'll find a picnic house, shelter, and peaceful surroundings – and be sure to watch for the many beautiful birds of prey. Or pack your fishing rod in your backpack and walk along Vesterhave Strand or Klinten to Bjørnebæk Strand. Any fish you catch will surely earn you praise when you return to the campsite. If you're not lucky, you can always enjoy freshly caught fish at one of the old fish restaurants by the canal on your way back.
Bisserup
Bisserup is fourteen kilometers away and definitely worth the trip. The shallow lagoon is a nature experience like no other, just ask the many leisure sailors who have Bisserup as a fixed point on their nautical charts every summer. A lovely network of hiking trails, the forest along the sea with a beautiful nature playground, and a good fish shop with the harbor's fishermen also make a day in Bisserup an unforgettable experience.
The Green Ring
The Green Ring is a 32 km marked cycling and hiking route that surrounds the city of Næstved. The ring was completed and inaugurated on October 21, 2021. The route takes you through both new and old forest and nature areas. Here, you can choose a section of the route or complete the entire journey in one day. At the reception, we are happy to provide information about parking nearby or suggest which part of the route you could take.
Saltø Forest
Saltø Forest offers many charming routes for a walk. Here, you'll find numerous ancient monuments in the form of burial mounds, and on a lucky day, you might see the sea eagle soaring above the forest or hear the characteristic calls of ravens between the trees. In Borgnakke Forest, which is the southeastern part of Saltø Forest, down towards Karrebæk Fjord, Saltø Estate has established a forest burial site in the beautiful beech forest with a view over the fjord.
Holmegaard Mose
Holmegaard Mose is located in Fensmark, behind Holmegaard Værk. The bog is worth a visit if you want to experience a former peat bog and the unique landscape that has developed after over 100 years of peat extraction for, among other things, Holmegaard Glassworks and the associated workers' housing. The area offers a very special landscape with rich plant, bird, and animal life, with many opportunities for pleasant walks. Some paths are not suitable for strollers, wheelchairs, etc.
Cycling routes
Undulating and beautiful cycling routes cut through De Hvide Svaner’s "front yard." Come by the reception – we’ll guide you to a cycling route that takes you through the finest parts of South Zealand’s nature. You decide how challenging you want the ride to be.
Mountain bike heaven
The forests around Næstved offer the perfect playground. The "Yellow Trail" in Herlufsholm Forest is fun for all. The experienced mountain biker can ride the "National Championship Route" in Fruens Plantation, and if you love to play on your bike, Næstved has its own bike park in the rugged surroundings of the old paper mill.
Canoe trip on Susåen
Canoeing on Susåen, Zealand's largest river. Rent a canoe and start from the Slusehuset in Næstved. Here, you can paddle past the beautiful Herlufsholm School and continue down the winding river as long as your arms and supplies last. A different experience for the whole family.
Boat trip with Friheden
Freedom on the fjord. Take the ferry boat Friheden from Næstved Harbor, get off at Gavnø Castle, and experience history up close. Hop back on and continue to Karrebæksminde. Enjoy the fresh fjord air and order delicious dishes onboard.
